Scott Hall won the weekend but Seth Harris played well enough to win the season-long race for the 2012 Tailgate State Cup on a beautiful weekend at the Oregon Coast.

Despite grumblings about handicaps, Hall coasted to a nine shot victory over perennial top-three finisher and two-time TGS Cup Champion Jason Wold.  Hall was decided to be a 24 handicap despite the fact that he had never broken 100 in a TGS Cup event.  Even if he had been a 27 handicap -- the original one assigned to him -- he still would have won by three strokes.  And it helped his cause when he bought five pitchers of beer for the rest of the field with his winnings.

Gearhart proved to be a worthy championship caliber course for the field with it's short holes and tiny greens.  The environs were so appealing that Kevin Nufer ended up purchasing a vacation home in Seaside that is sure to be enjoyed by players in the future should the tour return to Gearhart.

Lance Meyerink made a cameo appearance but didn't seem to have worked on his golf game while living in swanky Las Vegas.  He lost a fight to an ice chest and proved that some things will never change.  That's a good thing.

The only drama during the weekend came via some gamesmanship displayed during a money match between defending TGS Cup Champion Rich Wold and tour mainstay Tommy Berry.  On the ridiculously challenging 18th hole, Rich thought it would be a good idea to remind Tommy that he was playing out of turn.  In the middle of his backswing.  This is a feud that will be worth paying attention to in 2013.

The bars and restaurants on the strip in Seaside saw good business from the solid field of "has-beens" and "never-weres" with karaoke night at Twisted Fish being a particular highlight of the weekend.  Apparently mixing a crowd of 30 and 40-year old men determined to relive their glory days, a bachelorette party of women who like to eat and a special needs group out on their monthly excursion doesn't have to end poorly.

Thanks to everyone who played this year and especially to the tournament hosts who make everything possible.  Dramatic rule changes are being proposed for 2013.  Stay tuned.
