Official rules of the Tailgate State golf tour:
The tour committee is composed of -- and limited to -- those who host a tournament during the regular season.
An official USGA handicap index is required to be eligible to win prizes in the Tailgate State Cup final event. Handicaps are available from most area golf courses, usually for $50.
Each tournament's host determines their event's field, format (i.e. stroke play, scramble, stableford scoring, etc.), cost, prizes and tie-breaker. Hosts are expected to verify and -- if necessary -- assign equitable handicaps to players without a USGA index.
Tournament hosts are forbidden to alter and/or add to the rules of golf as established by the USGA. The only exception being a local rule put in place by the golf course staff.
Formula for season-long standings is as follows:
100% of points for best four events + 25% of points won in subsequent tournaments + 100% of points won in Tailgate State Cup Championship = Total points
In case of a tie, all points will be split among players. A tie-breaker may be used to determine the prizes awarded for that tournament.
Only TGS Tour Members are eligible to win points in each event. Tour membership requires a $50 per player fee and a USGA handicap index. 100% of tour member fees will be awarded as prizes at the end of the TGS Cup Championship. Non-members are still eligible to win tournament prizes but points in the season-long standings will be applied in the order of finish by Tour Members. Players are eligible to become members at any time during the season but points will not be awarded retroactively for tournaments that have already been played.
Requirements for Tour Membership (all conditions must be met):
1. Declare your membership sending an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
2. Pay $50 to the tour committee
3. Have a current USGA handicap index
Webmaster's entry fee is waived to cover web-hosting cost. $40 withheld from end-of-year prize pool to cover trophy engraving cost.
Each tournament host contributes $50 from entry fees collected during their event, payable to the end-of-year prize pool
Tour members will be penalized for not posting a tournament score to GHIN.com prior to the next tournament being played:
Penalty will be assessed in the next TGS tournament played in the same season the violation occurred
Penalty will be two strokes regardless of how many eligible scores the player failed to post
Player must be informed of penalty assessment before beginning the penalized round
Infractions will be enforced when verified by a member of the tour committee
Points for each event are awarded as follows:
(Major tournament = 75% or more of all eligible TGS tour members participate, Regular tournament = 50-74% of tour members, Minor tournament = less than 50% of tour members)
